The funky bros and F-Teamers Max and Joe Litchfield have the common dream of Olympic glory and enjoy nothing more than putting their brotherly love to one side when they jump in the pool and go head-to-head in the 200m and 400m individual medley.  The Yorkshire siblings competed over the weeked at the BUCS Nationals event at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, the first of many times that the pair will surely face off in the years to come as they push each other toward Tokyo 2020.

"Facing Max is tough because he is a bit older than me but I want to be able to catch him in the next few years. The dream would be to be in the same Olympics and race in the same race. To do that would be completely unbelievable and I'm training hard to keep improving all the time," Joe reveals.

Joe's work certainly is making a difference as he became the European Junior Champion last year and also won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in 2015.

He still has some way to go to match his big brother's achievements. Max came within a whisker of a bronze medal in the men's 400m IM final at Rio 2016 and he is likely to be an Olympic fixture for years to come for Team GB.

Max is Joe's biggest supporter and the thought of standing beside his brother on the Olympic podium is one that pushes them both.

"It would be great to compete at Tokyo with Joe - there is a long way to go before that but he is very talented and has a great future. We are both pretty quiet before we swim and Joe certainly doesn't need any tips from me. Once it's all over, we get out of the pool and we're brothers again," Max says.

Keep an eye on the Litchfield bros as they go head to head and push each other towards Tokyo 2020.
