The First ever FINA Champions Swim Series kicked off in Guangzhou, China over the weekend and two F-Teamers made the cut for this top dog event: Imogen Clark (GBR) and Jack McLoughlin (AUS).

The Champions Series is a new initiative from FINA to give elite swimming stars the opportunity to shine with only the best of the best invited to compete in the fiercely competitive event. There are no heats in this event, only finals with just 4 competitors in each race. The prize money is unlike anything in any other major swimming event: $10,000 for 1st, $8,000 for 2nd, $6,000 for 3rd and $5,000 for 4th. Even more valuable is the opportunity for these top swimmers to race internationally in the lead up to the 2020 Olympics.

Imogen brought it home in the 50 Breast, beating USA's Molly Hannis and China's Junyang Feng to wim Gold with a time of 30.71. She was also part of the Bronze medal team in the Mixed 4 x 100 Medley Relay. To round off the busy weekend Imogen raced in the 100 Breast and Mixed 4 x 100 Free Relay.

Coming off the back of Aus Champs where Jack won 2 medals without tapering, the distance machine had his eyes on the prize going into the 400 Free on the Sunday night. After a serious battle with Yang Sun From China and Gabriele Detti from Italy, Jack came in to win Bronze with a time of 3:47.89 and with that claimed himself a pretty penny.

With the first of the series done and dusted we're excited to see how this new event develops - next stop in the series is May 11-12th in Budapest, Hungary.
